So here we go.
I just got back from Tampa Pro 2005. Hats off to all the staff at the SPoT. They are so good at what they do. Ryan gave me a tour of the skatepark’s back area. They have that place dialed. It’s like an ant farm back there. “Hustle and a bustle with a single malt please.”
Sometimes when I am here in the Mpls. vibe for months, and months at a time, I feel like I get sucked into this Midwest bla. I guess it’s hard not to. Winters are long, cabin fever sets in hard. I’m trying to say that it was so refreshing to be out there and catch the vibe of Tampa again. Skateboarding is much bigger than Mpls. Sometimes; I think many of us forget that. Up here we are like a small family, and Tampa is like an extended family reunion.
I had a great time watching the skating. We had a couple chill bowl sessions, and Mrod and I skated the mini ramp for a while. For the most part I played lurker. THE CONTEST: I won’t play the name game, everyone was killing it. The bowl session on Thursday night was epic. I’ve been around many bowl sessions. This one ranked up there as one of the best. I really got into the best trick contest on the bank to wall. Again, everyone killed it. I’m sure the Tampa Pro. video will prove my words correct.
The nightlife was a bit chiller than the Tampa Am., but I had as much, if not more fun. My goal though was to avoid rolling dice with Dooner this trip. He always ends up with my cash in his wallet. I made it until the last night. Then he got me. O well.
Your turn is coming Dooner.
For me, Tampa Pro. got me amped. Skateboarding is skateboarding. Not just skateboarding I guess, but it is nearly everything to many of us. Everyone, from around the world, together for a weekend of skateboarding and shenanigans. All under the umbrella of skateboarding. What could be better?
Thanks to everyone who made this contest what it was, is, and will be again. Tampa Pro. weekend, nothing but pure vibes.
