The Free Flow Tour was at the 3rd Lair Burnsville location this year. The park has been re-done and is ready to be shredded. The contest was held on a dull and rainy day outside, however the skatepark was bright with the intense skating that was going on inside. J-Nutz and I showed up a fashionable hour and a half late to judge the contest.
By noon the free Gatorade had energized the skaters and made them ready to shred. The contest began with the Grom (or 13 and under) division. The youngins skated in a jam format and tore up the skatepark. Many new young rippers were there, including some of the locals such as Benny Milam and Logan Mozey. They skated thier hearts out to win tons of free product and nearly a life supply of Gatorade. In the end, it was a new youngster who I had not seen before who took the win. (sorry I don't have his name)
After a short break, it was time for the older division. They ripped up all areas of the skatepark until it was time to decide who made it to the semis. (The younger division did not need a semi finals due to less entries) It turned out to be a handful of the local rippers who made it to the semi finals, which is always a good thing. Once again they skated thier best, and the top 5 were picked to be the finalists. An extremly intense Jam session occured, which made judging very difficult. At the end of the day, it was Jack Olson in 3rd place, Kevin Heger in 2nd place, and Corey Millet winning 1st place for his deep bag of tricks and amazing consistency. Congratulations to everyone who competed in the contest. 3rd Lair would like to thanks Gatorade and we hope they bring the contest back here for many years to come.
